There comes a certain stage of maturity where the fires begin to burn low. It’s not an end to passion. If anything the emotions run deeper than ever like the hardwood coals in a hearth. They burn steady through the night long after the kindling of youth is reduced to ash. I have nothing to prove. No more questions of who I am or what I’m for. The pattern of my life is set and outside events no longer hold much sway over it. So no deep questions this time. This album is more like an old fashioned Texas porch conversation. A conversation about the past, musings about the present, and hopes for the future in the smile of a grandchild. We certainly won’t agree about everything but we’ll be grateful for the company none the less. So pull up a chair and sit for a spell. We can watch the hot Texas sun go down and talk into the night. Perhaps we can find a little gratitude for the time we’ve been given along the way.
